Phuket-Kings-Cup-Regatta If you’re going to Thailand and you’re curious to know which festivals and events you might be able to attend, you can read about them below.

The fairs of Thao Si Sunthon and Thao Thep Krasattri take place on March 13th each year and it commemorates two well known heroines that helped rally the people of Thalang, trying to repel the invaders from Burma.

The Vegetarian festival takes place either at the end of September or at the beginning of October, usually during the 9th lunar month’s first day. During this festival, the Phuket locals that have Chinese ancestors take a vegetarian diet that takes 9 days, trying to purify themselves, while preparing for the next year. During this festival, people go through a number of ascetic displays, like ascending on ladders that are sharp bladed and walking on fire.

The Regatta of Phuket’s King’s Cup takes place during December. On the beach resort of Kata you will meet yachtsmen which come from the neighbor countries, which came here to compete for the royal trophies on the Kata Beach.

Laguna Phuket Triathlon takes place during the month of December. A lot of athletes come here, from many countries, taking place in this triathlon.

The Travel Fair of Phuket starts each year on November 1st and its name is usually Paton Carnival, based on the place used for the celebrations. During the travel fair, you will see sports events, colorful parades, plus a beauty competition that is done for tourists.

The Chao Le Festival takes place in the middle of the 11th and 6th lunar months, each year. The villages of sea gypsies from Sapam and Rawai will hold these ceremonies during the 13th, while Laem La does it on the 15th. During these ceremonies, small boats are let to drift, so that evil is driven away.
