Patong Beach
The Patong Beach can be found on the west coast of the island of Phuket, and this name is given both to the town next to it and to the beach. Out of all the Phuket resorts, this is the main place where tourists come. If you want cheap shopping and great nightlife, Patong Beach is the place where you need to be. This place became a popular spot for tourists from the Western world at the end of the 80’s and these days you can find a lot of chain hotels in the area.
This resort has a beach that is 3.5 km long and its nightlife is famous and found in two areas, Paradise Complex and Bangla Road. If you’re looking for straight experience, go to Bangla Road, while the gay area is Paradise Complex. You will find plenty of bars on both these roads, as well as go go bars and discos. The prostitution is done on a large scale and it’s culturally accepted here, especially on the Bangla Road. Here, many men of Western origin come and drink with young transvestites and Thai women. In most cases, you will have to pay 100 baht to get into a disco in Patong, which is the price of the drink minimum, as you get a voucher for it.
The climate of Phuket is a tropical one and the dry season starts in November and ends in April, with the rain season starting in May and ending in October. The average temperatures are the same during the entire year. The average high temperature is between 29 and 33 degrees Celsius. The average low temperature will range from 23 to 26 degrees Celsius. Even during the wet season, these rains only come for 1 or 2 hours each day and the sun is beautiful and warm otherwise.
